My Teaching Style

My approach to teaching is all about meeting you where you are and helping you grow in a way that feels natural, rewarding, and enjoyable. I believe that everyone learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to suit your unique needs, goals, and pace. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience already, my aim is to create a relaxed, encouraging environment where you can build confidence and truly enjoy your musical journey.

Student-Centred Learning

I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Some students thrive with structure and graded exams, while others are more motivated by learning songs they love, improvising, or writing their own music. I work closely with each student to figure out what inspires them and use that as the foundation for progress. Lessons are designed to feel personal, meaningful, and fun — not just a series of exercises.

Technique with Purpose

Solid technique is important, but I always make sure it connects to music that excites you. Whether we’re building finger strength and fluency on the piano or exploring vocal placement and breath control in singing, technique is always taught with a clear sense of why it matters and how it serves your musical goals. I want you to understand how your instrument works — whether that’s your voice or your hands — so you feel in control and expressive.

Creative Exploration

I love helping students explore their own creativity. If you’re interested in songwriting, composing, or interpreting music in your own style, we can absolutely bring that into our lessons. I also encourage listening, improvisation, and self-expression as ways to deepen your connection to music and discover what makes your musical voice unique.

Encouragement and Progress

My lessons are supportive, patient, and positive. I know that learning music can be a vulnerable process, especially when you’re just starting out or trying something new. I’m here to guide you without pressure, celebrate your progress, and help you through the challenges. I offer regular feedback, gentle structure, and realistic goal-setting to help you feel motivated and proud of how far you’ve come.
